In our last blog, we discussed the importance of proper lighting for your sewing room. We talked about how dim lighting can put additional and unnecessary stress on your eyes while using your Janome sewing machine.  We also talked about a couple of great lighting solutions, like eliminating shadows by placing light sources at all angles and replacing your ambient overhead lights with white bulbs. The following is a list of the rest of the creative lighting tips that our experts have come up with:

  • Take advantage of specialty lights- There are a ton of specialty task lights out there for quilting and sewing. In fact, we have several of them available on our site, like the Janome Artistic Super Bright LED Light. This light works perfectly for even the most intensive sewing projects, because it comes with 6 LED bulbs that are incredibly bright! This can be charged either with a traditional outlet or a USB port, whichever works best for you.
  • Utilize magnification in conjunction with your lighting- Great lighting will go a long way for you when you are sewing, but if you are looking for a way to give you eyes even more of a break, then you should check out the magnifiers that are available, like the Janome Optic Magnifier. This magnifier can easily be attached when you need it, and it helps you to see even the smallest details in complete clarity! A magnifier like this one is perfect if you do a lot of detailed work.
