Cleaning is one of the best ways to keep you sewing machine working like new, but unfortunately, it get overlooked all too often. If you are looking for a little bit of guidance on how to properly clean your sewing machine, you’ve come to the right place! The following is our guide on how to clean your sewing machine the right way:
- Gather your tools- You will need a few tools in order to clean your sewing machine, but don’t fret, many of them can be found in your own home! You will need a pair of long tweezers, a disc shaped screwdriver, a small brush, and your manual.
- Prepare your sewing machine- Before you start cleaning, make sure that your sewing machine is turned off! If you want to be doubly sure that no accidents will happen, take it one step farther by unplugging it. You should also make sure that the needle is in the up position. After you’ve completed these steps, remove the presser foot holder and the needle, then slide the flat bed attachment off, and remove the needle plate.
